Volunteer Newsletter: November 2021
/Happy November, everyone!
It’s Native American Heritage Month 2021, and we recommend connecting with the Amah Mutsun Land Trust to learn more about local Indigenous sovereignty, land stewardship, history, and current concerns.
Given much of the work that we do at Walnut Avenue in regards to gender and family violence, we also recommend learning more about the ways in which Native folks are uniquely targeted for violence. The National Indigenous Women’s Resource Center provides an excellent introduction to this (#MMIW), and the StrongHearts Native Helpline is available for Indigenous survivors looking for culturally specific support.
At Walnut Avenue: Updates
We have two seasonal campaigns coming up: Turkey Drive and Adopt-a-Family! If you’d like more information on participating as a donor, you can contact us at info@wafwc.org.
Doing any holiday shopping this year on Amazon? You can always choose Walnut Avenue as your Amazon Smile recipient, with no extra cost to you. 💖
